Well, more like we hope all you french-friendly folk will come visit us for a change as this Saturday is the LAST EVER screening in Montreal.

Lets take a moment to think back to some of the highlights of the past several episodes in Quebec.

Fleshback to the first time Bike Smut played in MTL we opened for a play party we a variety of sexual acts happening all over. Dubious that Interstice still exists but it was in Griffintown and it was amazing. Naturally there are not many photos but they did send us this a few days later.

We came back to Montreal to bring Bike Smut 4:PLAY to a place called Death Church in Verdun a year later. It really was an old church that had been refurbished to produce a more METAL experience. Go figure, the capital city of North America has more churches than it knows what to do with. It was a good screening from the crusty punks who had a variety of sex toys made from bike parts. That was our first experience with DIY Montreal poutine: buy a big bag of curds direct from a farm, then get your fries and gravy sourced from the local corner store.

Our break out show in Montreal was Bike Smut 6: Turning Trixxx. We had a lot of investment and the larger bike community finally got to put the pieces together. This was our first time in Café L'Artère, coopérative de solidarité

Then the following year our fabulous hosts brought us to a historic strip club, Cafe Cleopatra. The debauchery was on and the dancing was good. This marked the north-easternmost corner of the Porny Express bike tour. Reverend Phil rode through the encroaching winter with the addition of bike tube gaskets, a cheap and easy way to keep the muck out of your bearings. Whew! With as dirty as we get it was a welcome addition.

We returned to Cleopatra for "Come Again" when we showed the full version of Brazen Saddles, one of the most ambitious films produced for Bike Smut. Bringing together the entire community. With lots of exploration and tension, a biker gang being chased by a bike cop laid a trap then they decided to really Fuck the Police... consensually! This was extra meaningful because our event took place over May Day so the revolutionaries were out in the streets.

Those amazing handmade vests that were featured in Brazen Saddles (learn more about this fab film here) were created within the Montreal Biker community. We got to see some behind the scenes creations of Oxyd Creations. Bike Smut, un festival international itinérant qui célèbre le vélo et une culture du sexe positive, s’arrête à Montréal pour la cinquième et dernière fois ce samedi à 20:00 au Café L’Artère. Sous le thème de la “Science Friction” cette année, le festival présente à chaque édition une nouvelle programmation de films sur le vélo et le sexe, faits par des cyclistes, des cinéastes et queers du monde entier.

“Faites-vous partie de ceux qui pensent que de meilleurs moyens de transport et qu'une vie sexuelle épanouie sont la clef d'une meilleure qualité de vie ? Ou pensez-vous simplement que faire du vélo est sexy ? Ou alors pédaler vous fait juste du bien ?” demande Rev Phil Sano, un des organisateurs du festival.

Faire un film, c'est facile ! Le diffuser peut être plus compliqué. Au cours des 10 dernières années, le festival a voyagé un peu partout pour montrer et partager ces contenus des plus excitants. Les vidéos présentés ne sont pas offerts en DVD ni diffusés sur le net. La seule façon de voir ces films, c'est de se déplacer aux séances (18 ans et plus) toutes remplies d'adultes consentants ! We are fresh out of Harvest Festival, the electro-dance filled forest 300 km north of Toronto. We partied, we made silly, we worked with our local host to fabricate a pedal-powered disco... and we showed some classic bicycle pornography to some hippies in the woods. Now its time to get deep into Canada's most popular city for our last ever screening here!

The first show we ever did was at Cine Cycle and, honest to mercy, it included some locally made, live-action tentacle porn.

The following year we were treated to some bicycle bondage as our hosts proceeded to tie up and suspend $15,000 worth of bikes that made as art, never to be ridden. Plus a dance party that raged past dawn. Stunning.

Our 5th year was half consumed by our first European tour, the other half we were driving back along the southern border on The Orgasm Trail (because the south didn't get the 4th year)

We returned to Cine Cycle for Bike Smut 6: Turning Trixxx, which included our first collaboration from the amazing sex-positive store, Good For Her. On top of providing excellent body-positive support to those exploring sexuality they also organize the Feminist Porn Awards, which are on sabbatical at the moment, likely for similar reasons that Bike Smut is retiring... when you hold yourself to such high standards its difficult to maintain a pristine track record, and as they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

The following year was a somewhat stressful ride from Buffalo that included an emergency repair of our hand-built trailer. There was some serious biker cred back in those days. Yeesh!

Last year we upped-the-punx with a collaboration with Soy Bomb housing coop and the Welcome to Toronto art collective. Fabulous art was made and distributed and the party was a massive success.

This year we return to our Toronto roots. Back with the crazy old British bike mechanic who loves independent film and dirty jokes. Come on down and wish us farewell as we dance the night away!

Chicago, the 3rd city of these United States and the 1st place to inspire a riot during Bike Smut.

Its not everyday that the audience, due to vast intoxication, could belligerently necessitate stopping the screening. In fact its only happened a few times, but never with as much gusto as it was that cold March night at the historic Music Box in 2008. Screenings since then have come in all manners of flavor. We had our second show further west at a now defunct venue called Reversible Eye Gallery A two-person birthday party resulted in a back-to-back knocktapus (that's a four pairs of boobs slapping your in the face while your hands are behind your back... in case you didn't know) The stressful last min changes to the screen and projector at the Viaduct Theater at part of the Backlash Tour resulted in a enthralled audience. A return to the Music Box in 2011 was moderately successful with lots of sponsors but the massive venue was deemed just too large for our niche audience.

Finally after a few years of trying we were able to make a screening happen at Co-prosperity Sphere, and it was grand! We came back to do it again last year in conjunction with the WNBR and lots of local artists but while it seemed promising the record breaking rainfall was less than accommodating. Plus there was a shooting around the corner. Its a big city, these things happen.

Now we return for our final Chicago show, bringing thoughtful repose and levity to the people with performance and porn.

We are on the verge of getting sentimental, because we have done so much writing and engaging more than 1000 posts and 700k views over the past decade. But the numbers, which are interesting are nothing compared to the qualitative sense of value from our interactions with people over the years.

We have had some great opportunities to challenge strongly held views about sex and mobility. Milwaukee (or as they like to abbreviate it, MKE) is the home of macro beers but they also got plenty of people appreciating the finer things. So while most overlook our plucky independent film fest we've seen a growing appreciation for the crazy fun happening in the rather eclectic neighborhood of Riverwest and specifically the happy (if not slightly wobbly) patrons who frequent the Riverwest Public House, Bike Smut's home in MKE for the past 4 years.

And now it would seem the rather attentive but prudish censors of FB have decided to ban RevPhil yet again, so combined with the difficulty finding a venue in Madison and a strong case of homesickness the following screenings in Madison and Minneapolis are cancelled/postponed indefinitely.

Although we have moved into a comfortable retirement from touring there were 4 movies made in Mexico in our most recent program so we couldn't keep Science Friction from our Southern neighbor for long.

We have officially been invited to present our glorious bikesexual films at the 6th annual World Bicycle Forum aka la Foro de Mudial de la bicicletta. Some have called it the biggest bike party on earth, and we are happy to be here. Thankfully we are a pretty good judge of bike parties. Our friends the Dead Baby Bicycle Club of Seattle whom have been hosting a massive party every first Friday of August for the past 21 years might argue they have been doing it longer and better.

Bike Smut Intelligentsia

Bike Smut has always been for the people. Not just the people it serves directly (ie, our audience) but the people that will never know of its existence. We would like to believe that there is some massive Butterfly Effect that filters out of each show, causing the participants to engage with their mobile-sexuality a little differently. The ideals of Joyful Exploration, Shameless Flirtation and Radical Honesty help us find and embrace our desires. Witnessing someone make themselves vulnerable by sharing their fantasies emboldens others and puritanical shame is diminished. We all benefit from this scenario. But while we are very proud of our methods many choose other ways to engage these topics.

Recently a festival was going to invite Bike Smut or a person who has made a culture of encouraging people to photograph bikers without their consent (technically legal in the USA but still sketchy).

We are not one to Yuck another person's Yum but we wish there was a better way. For sure, its not easy. Besides the obvious challenge of racing after a person on a bicycle, just imagining how one might obtain feedback from strangers is difficult enough. "I just took your picture, can I use it in this context" strangely seems even more invasive then just snapping the photo and running. But why? Perhaps because we have trained ourselves to exist in a culture that spends more time begging for forgiveness than asking permission.

Thankfully we don't have to suffer in contemplation the ethics of others. We simply have to live our truth and hope that others are similarly inspired. But we do enjoy the mental exercise so we invite you to take part in a rarely seen side of ours, Bike Smut's intellectual explorations of bikes and sex.

First this weekend is the North American Anarchist Studies Network (nassn.org). Basically political wonks gathering for what we presume is an opportunity to stoke their own red and black gears. Although our voices might often be drowned out by the capitalist machine when we gather, when we organize our ideas have wheels of their own.

A bunch of intellectuals sharing theories on various political systems may not sound exciting but then you might have gotten accustomed to the yoke of capitalism. If you spend more time wondering how to maximize your net worth than you do dancing I hope you are able to join us for a rousting examination of what bodies will do with given the freedom to move and fuck as they please without concern for compensation.

They want to compare the meccas of sexy cycling: Vancouver, Berlin, Minneapolis, London, San Francisco, Copenhagen, New York, Amsterdam, Portland... Bike Smut has a an impressive history with each of these cities and each of them are quite bikesexually impressive in their own right.

For many years the most exciting shows, the most consistently stoked audience and frequent submissions came from, of all places, Salt Lake, the Mormon headquarters. Its easy to make assumptions about the reasoning behind why cities are different (eg in rains in Portland so people are more crafty). We are a reluctant to make any such assumptions, but for many years we have postulated that in cities where sex and cycling culture are accessible many of the people don't immediately see the value of Bike Smut. In cultures that are more oppressive, where people use terms like "biker", or "queer", or "queer biker" as insults. In these places it is a call to arms to say, "Fuck yes, I'm a queer biker and me and all my friends are gonna fucking party queer-biker style!"

But a couple years ago the mantle of most popular bikesexual city was passed on from Salt Lake to the most religious city of Mexico: Puebla. With more than 6 million people and nearly as many churches, Puebla is considered to be the most conservative city in Mexico.

Our last show there included more than 100 different submissions of bikesexual photography from various artists and the attendance reflected that vast cultural buy-in. More than 800 people filled the courtyard and cheered for more.

This weekend they have pushed the limits again with 3 shows on 3 nights completing our tour with 5 shows in 6 days!

What a way to end a great tour of Mexico!

Everybody has a body, born nude and soon thereafter wrapped in shame for its naked existence. Everybody has to be able to get around in a city packed with cars leaving room for few other options. Its time to take back our bodies and our streets. Its time for the 2nd annual Las Vegas World Naked Bike Ride!

This is a global event held to fight body shaming, patriarchy and the world’s dependence on fossil fuels. The ride is "As Bare As You Dare" so wear as much or little clothing as you desire on your bicycles, skateboards, or any other form of human-powered transportation to celebrate human-powered locomotion.

Due to the Las Vegas heat, the museum will be hosting indoor activities including a craft tables, body painting, and more, beginning at 6, with the actual bike ride starting at 9 pm.

Crank and Grind has agreed to support riders before and during the WNBR. Minor bike repairs will be provided for by donation. Bad Ass Coffee and Hot Diggity Dog will keeping the riders fueled and ready for action and free water will be available to everyone.

ReBAR is hosting the official Las Vegas WNBR afterparty (pasties required) and will be giving a free beer to anyone on the ride. Bike Smut is providing technical support and coordinating entertainment, including a set by Fans of Jimmy Century as well as some special guest appearances and a yes, we even have a pool to cool off after the hot ride.

"As a longtime Las Vegas institution, part of our mission is to advocate for sex positive culture. It's ironic that one of the most sexualized cities in the U.S.-Las Vegas-criminalizes non-sexual nudity. We hope to bring attention to these hypocrisies and help to change the laws in Clark County, bringing them in line with other cities like Chicago, Portland, and New York. We believe nudity as a form of protest should be a 1st amendment issue and thus a form of protected free speech."

Naked rides have existed a long time. The origin of the wheel is not exactly known but its safe to say that someone was naked on a wheel shortly after the wheel was invented. 5 thousand years later organized rides are common in select places such as Seattle´s Freemont Festival. Then in 2004 Conrad Schmidt asked friends to organize bikers and nudists across the world into what was officially named the World Naked Bike Ride. 13-years later hundreds of rides happen every year, some with only a handful of riders others with more than 10,0000 riders.

The WNBR is a protest against oil dependency and a celebration of body positivity. For years bikers have struggled to be recognized on the road. All too frequently the simple defense of ¨I didn´t see em¨ was enough to relieve an innatentive motorist of any culpability. Thankfully, the WNBR has a simple solution: RIDE NAKED & BE SEEN. If being naked is necessary to be safe on a bike then we are morally obligated to bike in the buff as much as possible.

So here is our New Years resolution: To be thankful for our awareness of the radical, independent media that already exists! There's lots of it out there and we love it! We enjoy the Intercept and Democracy Now almost every day. Partly because they keep us reminded that some media outlets are not paid for by corporations that benefit from endless war.

Mexicali is just south of the border between Mexico and California. Calexico is just north of that border. While not the largest this is surly the most convincingly named twin border towns between the US and Mexico. Given their proximity and shared agricultural history one might expect them to blend together but differences in the culture couldn’t be more obvious. Even thou a simple chain-link fence is all that separates the towns they are microcosmic representations of their respective countries. For a dusty southwest town, the suburban sprawl around Calexico is oddly clean, sterile even. It seems devoid of any culture (although time there years ago was limited) and while the Sun scorches both sides of the border with equal indifference the US side feels less inviting, colder.

Meanwhile Mexicali has the classic virtues of not giving a shit about appearances from the outside of the building but focus instead on whats inside. Their markets are designed to induce engagement. There are other major differences between of course. Mexicali being 10-times the population of Calexico has its obvious effects, never mind the United States’ insane healthcare policies that have created a massive medical tourist industry (something this blogger knows far more than this article will cover). How these twins grew apart to reflect their countries cultural identities is its own story worth telling.

But not here.
